Hypnosis and Aromatherapy in the treatment of Epilepsy.
I originally trained in Hypnosis after listening to a talk by Dr Tim Betts of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 1995. In this talk he explained how they were using a combination of Aromatherapy and Hypnosis to help people with Epilepsy control their seizures. I was fascinated and after going up to visit Dr Betts in Birmingham I went on to train in Hypnosis and see some of his London patients. Have a read of the article on the following link.

Tai Chi Lifts Depression in the elderly
New research from the University of California shows that after just 10 weeks of Tai Chi elderly depressed patients showed high levels of improvement and physical well being. Depression in the elderly is notoriously difficult to treat so this is really good news. Have a read on the links below or see my links page for Tai Chi classes locally.

Hypnosis reduces a patient's need for pain medication
In 2010 I underwent surgery on my spine. The anaesthetist was unconvinced by my needing less pain medication through using self hypnosis but it appears my view was right and there is research to prove it.
If you follow the link below you will read a research paper that demonstrates that women who had undergone breast surgery for cancer experienced less pain post operatively and used less pain medication when using hypnosis than those who did not. It's an American study but can you imagine the saving for the NHS if everyone were to be able to reduce their need for pain medication after an operation. Not to mention how much healthier we'd all feel if our livers weren't having to process those drugs.
